In November, 1973, Jerry and Barbara Bettlach opened the Harter House Meat Market in a small store on West Sunshine in Springfield, Missouri. The store was a lot of work, but everyone pitched in. Jerry cut the meat, Barbara kept the books and each of the five kids pitched in to help with different jobs.
From the very beginning, Jerry and Barbara believed that there was really only one key to having a successful business: treat the customers right!
Today, Harter House in Springfield is at 1500 E. Republic Road (we've been here since 1989). Our Business has continued to increase every year, thanks to a loyal following of friends who appreciate the way we strive
to serve them whenever they shop at our store.
